Cosmetic Acupuncture – The Ultimate Treatment.

Welcome to the next generation of integrative beauty and wellness. At Blossom Health there is a belief that caring for the skin is best accomplished through a combined approach that addresses skin health from the inside out.

Cosmetic acupuncture is a natural treatment that involves the placement of needles on your face. This stimulates your lymphatic and circulatory system to deliver nutrients and oxygen to the skin surface, resulting in a brighter, firmer and younger complexion.

The expansive and rejuvenating treatment begins with a thorough and detailed health assessment. This is to find any underlying causes of imbalance that may be affecting your complexion.  A treatment plan is developed, carefully selecting points on the face and body so that treatment can work at a deep level with long-lasting effects.

The therapy is further enhanced with acupressure massage, gua sha, facial cupping, derma rollers or micro needling. Education on lifestyle and nutrition further compliment the session, so you continue your wellness journey at home.

Common anti-aging treatments provided at Blossom Health include:

  • muscle firmness and tone
  • collagen production
  • reduced puffiness
  • improved skin
  • reducing fine lines

How does facial cosmetic acupuncture work?

Cosmetic acupuncture is an extension of traditional acupuncture. Points are carefully selected by a trained acupuncturist depending on individual need and following a detailed health assessment. It causes micro trauma to the underlying layers of the skin, which respond by producing growth factors essential for natural skin regeneration.

How will I feel after facial cosmetic acupuncture?

Clients usually feel very relaxed or even sleepy during the treatment. It is normal for the body temperature to slightly drop, giving a pleasant, cosy feeling. Clients may maintain this relaxed state for a few hours later or feel very energised.

Are there any risks associated with facial cosmetic acupuncture?

Facial acupuncture is a very safe treatment. Some clients may feel a tiny prick, especially on sensitive points, but there is usually no pain associated with the practice. Other side effects are rarely seen, including short-lived sleepiness (from the relaxed state). There is a small risk of bruising for people with fragile or sensitive skin. These usually resolve within a few days.

Clients should inform their therapist if they take blood thinning medication. Stimulants such as coffee and alcohol should be avoided prior to treatment.

How many sessions do you need for noticeable results?

Clients are usually surprised as most notice a difference to their skin following the first treatment. However, depending on the patient’s individual needs, a course of treatment is normally recommended (to achieve measurable results). A typical course of treatment consists of 10-14 consecutive sessions, once or twice per week. Maintenance sessions usually occur monthly for two to three months and then seasonally thereafter.

How long do affects last from cosmetic acupuncture?

The effects are usually cumulative and with maintenance sessions last 3-5 years.

Can you use cosmetic acupuncture with Botox?

Yes, you can use cosmetic acupuncture alongside Botox. It is best to wait for approximately two weeks so that swelling has reduced, and the effects of Botox has fully kicked in.

Is facial acupuncture effective in treating medical conditions?

Facial acupuncture is not just for treating clients aesthetically; other skin and facial conditions treated include: pigmentation, acne, melasma, rosacea, trigeminal neuralgia, facial paralysis, temporomandibular disorder (TMJ), grinding teeth and sinus congestion.
